Congratulations to the Columbia Elementary School website and school website administrator Ms. Shannon Hoff. The Columbia Elementary website was one of the three FCPS elementary school websites to be recognized as 'Best of the Web' for 2021.

The Best of the Web Awards annually recognizes three elementary schools, one middle school, one secondary or high school, and one special center or academy.

Below is the write-up from the FCPS news release.

Shannon Hoff and Michael Astudillo collaborate at weekly meetings to plan innovative content for the website. New webpages in 2021 include “What Makes Us Special,” which includes a slideshow and a listing of highlighted school programs, and “Why Work at Columbia,” which outlines why a prospective teacher or staffer would want to join the Columbia ES team. An improved Specials Section brings to life subjects such as art, music, physical education, STEAM Lab (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts Integration, and Math), and the Spanish language program. In addition, each staff person is featured in a short biography

Members of the central office web team and one of the FCPS photographers surprised Ms. Hoff earlier this week, where she was presented with a certificate and a crystal glass trophy. At the monthly school curator's web chat, the Columbia website was proudly displayed and Ms. Hoff was formally recognized in front of many of her FCPS school curator colleagues.

Congratulations, Ms. Hoff!
