4th Grade Attends National Symphony Orchestra Performance
Our 4th-grade students recently had the incredible opportunity to experience the magic of live orchestral music at the Kennedy Center! They attended the National Symphony Orchestra's Young People's Concert, a captivating performance designed to introduce young audiences to the wonders of the orchestra.
This year's concert, titled “Philharmonia Fantastique” by Mason Bates. Students listened and followed a magical Sprite as it embarks on a musical journey through the inner workings of an orchestra set to live music. Additional works by Francesco Maria Veracini (“Allegro” solo violin), Aaron Copland (“Fanfare for the Common Man” Brass Section), Jessie Montgomery (“Starburst” Strings Section), Keeghan Fountain (“Toybox Escape” Percussion Section), and John Williams (“Nimbus 2000” Woodwinds Section), highlighted the features of each section of the orchestra. Marissa Regni, violinist was the host to help guide the concert along with conductor Michelle Merrill.
We are incredibly grateful to FCPS Fine Arts Program and the Kennedy Center for providing this invaluable opportunity for our students. Experiences like these make learning come alive and show our students the power and beauty of the arts.
