Earlier this month, our 4th graders participated in The National Symphony Orchestra’s Young People’s Concert at the Kennedy Center.  The performance featured the NSO, animation, and a magical animated character named Sprite.  This brings us to the title of the concert: “Philharmonia Fantastique” by Mason Bates. Students listened and followed a magical Sprite as it embarks on a musical journey through the inner workings of an orchestra set to live music.

Additional works by Francesco Maria Veracini (“Allegro” solo violin), Aaron Copland (“Fanfare for the Common Man” Brass Section), Jessie Montgomery (“Starburst” Strings Section), Keeghan Fountain (“Toybox Escape” Percussion Section), and John Williams (“Nimbus 2000” Woodwinds Section), highlighted the features of each section of the orchestra.

Marissa Regni, violinist was the host to help guide the concert along with conductor Michelle Merrill.

Our students had an amazing time at the NSO's Young People's Concert!
