National School Counseling Week - February 7-11
National School Counseling Week 2022, "School Counseling: Better Together," will be celebrated from February 7-15 to focus public attention on the unique contribution of school counselors within our school systems. National School Counseling Week, sponsored by the American School Counselor Association, highlights the tremendous impact school counselors can have in helping students achieve school success and plan for a career.
At Columbia, our school counseling program consists of support for our cougar’s academic, social-emotional development, and vocational pursuits; by providing individual, small group, and whole-group counseling lessons. So far, our whole group school counseling lessons have focused on topics such as kindness (to others and ourselves), anti-bullying, self-esteem, teamwork, mindfulness, and empathy. Our program fosters a caring culture of acceptance and inclusivity to all, and the understanding that we all are special and deserving of love and respect. Our counseling program also sponsors other programs such as Mentorworks, which connects staff members to mentor some of my cougars. The counseling program also establishes many schoolwide initiatives to help show pride in ourselves and our school. Our next schoolwide initiative will be Kindness Week where we become kindness catchers and recognize and celebrate us all being kind, caring cougars
It’s always a great day to be a kind cougar!!
